WHO WE ARE
Paul Mew Associates are development transport planning and traffic engineering consultants established in London in 1996.

We provide transport planning and traffic engineering assistance to private and public sector clients for development related applications.
​
We have experience in a wide range of applications for all major land uses in the United Kingdom and internationally. The majority of our work is for private and public sector clients with planning applications for mixed-use, residential, educational, commercial, hotel, and leisure developments in Greater London and the Home Counties.

Often transport and traffic related issues prove to be major and contentious obstacles for new developments during the planning process and ongoing. Paul Mew Associates have successfully assisted hundreds of clients overcome these transport and traffic issues.

Paul Mew
BSc MSc
Managing Director of the consultancy, Paul is a traffic engineer and transport planner with over 40 years of experience having worked extensively with local authorities in the UK and overseas. Paul has expertise in traffic impact related site development, urban traffic management, junction design, road safety engineering and design.

He has appeared as expert witness at numerous public inquiries on behalf of the Department of Transport, local authorities and developers.
Nick Ferguson
BA (Hons) MCIHT
Nick is a Director within the Paul Mew Associates team with a wealth of experience working on a wide range of projects from the inception stages right through to planning approval. Nick can offer a variety of planning assistance and traffic impact assessment disciplines. He has considerable experience in the design and execution of highways data collection surveys and analysis as well as specialist traffic and junction analysis and site layout design considerations.

Nick has provided reports and documentation for appeal procedures. He is a Law Society registered expert witness and has acted as an expert witness at Public Inquiries.
Jack Thompson
BA (Hons)
Jack is a Principal Transport Consultant having joined Paul Mew Associates in January 2017. Jack graduated from the University of Plymouth with a BA in Geography. Modules in his course included Transport Geographies, Global Environmental Politics, and Cultural Geographies. Jack initially worked at TRL in the Transport Division where he gained formal training and experience with PERS audits, as well as ARCADY, PICADY, and TRANSYT modelling.

Since joining the team Jack has gained considerable experience in all aspects of transport planning and has been involved in a wide array of projects both in terms of scale and complexity. Jacks’ core skills include policy research, traffic data collection, parking stress surveys, vehicle swept path analysis, scheme audits and feasibility design input, and trip generation assessment.
Esmail Ali
BEng (Hons) MSc
Esmail is a Senior Transport Consultant having joined Paul Mew Associates in March 2021. Esmail graduated from London South Bank University with a MSc Transport Planning and Engineering and BEng in Civil Engineering. Modules in his course included Transport planning, Highway Engineering, Traffic Engineering and Project Management.
Since joining the team Esmail has worked on a variety of projects and gained valuable experience in policy research, using AutoCAD to audit scheme designs, traffic data collection, parking stress surveys, vehicle swept path analysis, and trip generation assessment and impact assessments.
Osbert Menezes
BA (Hons)
Osbert is a Transport Consultant, having joined Paul Mew Associates in March 2022. Osbert graduated from King’s College London with a BA degree in Geography. While at university, his modules included Infrastructural Geographies, Urban and Cultural Geographies, and Geopolitics.
While Osbert has been at Paul Mew Associates he has worked on numerous projects across London and the Home Counties and has gained plenty of experience in conducting parking surveys, swept-path analysis, scheme audits, and preparing transport reports in support of planning applications.
Oli Woolley
BA (Hons)
Oli is a Graduate Transport Consultant having joined Paul Mew Associates in the summer of 2022. Oli graduated from the University of Liverpool with a BA in Geography. Modules in his course included Urban Environment Economics and Transport Geographies.
Oli concluded his degree writing a dissertation which used the field of transport to assess London’s transition to a smart city. The connectivity of London’s existing transport structure was analysed along with the impact of the Elizabeth Line, which opened in May 2022 and provides a new cross-radial connection to the network. Since joining the team, Oli has developed new skills to be applied to writing a range of transport and traffic related reports.
Karen Stanton
Supports the Paul Mew Associates management team in running and organising the company. As the office and finance manager she oversees all administrative and budgetary aspects of our projects.

Karen keeps a keen eye on all aspects of the business as well as maintaining a good working relationship with external clients. Karen is the first point of contact at Paul Mew Associates.
Woodruff
Joined Paul Mew Associates in the summer of 2015 and has quickly established herself as a key member of the company. Woodruff provides invaluable support to the wider team when she is not taking a well earned nap or demanding a walk in the park.

A sucker for a tummy rub, Woodruff has already formed a close relationship with the postman and is the first point of contact for visitors to the office.
