Traffic impact assessments determine the change in trip levels that will result from a development. These changes are quantified in terms of impact on local roads, parking supply, junctions and public transport services and act as the catalyst for the formulation of a range of measures to increase the sustainability of the development. This may include the design and testing of new junctions, advising on access and layout and ‘car-free’ issues, or the formulation of travel plans.

Traffic impact assessment studies carried out by Paul Mew Associates are based on local and national planning policy as well as extensive local research. Our in-house data collection team conduct surveys as required from automatic traffic counts and intervisibility assessments to traffic speed surveys.

Traffic Impact Assessment

The amount of traffic a new development will generate and how it will impact on the local transport network are important considerations in the granting of planning permission.
