West Thames College Redevelopment
We have recently completed a number of studies as part of redevelopment plans for West Thames College in the London Borough of Hounslow. Initial studies involved assessing a series of potential development sites as to their suitability to accommodate new or expanded educational facilities. We then moved to prepare a full traffic assessment and travel plan for the chosen development site.
Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea
Prior to and following the introduction of Congestion Charging in Central London
Paul Mew Associates were appointed to carry out analysis of ‘before and after’ surveys
to gauge the effect of the new system on the Royal Borough’s roads. The study
involved the analysis of data collected from a series of traffic flow, journey
time, pedestrian flow and bus reliability surveys.
Meadway School Redevelopment
A comprehensive transport assessment was carried out as part of the redevelopment scheme to provide a new Special Educational Needs School, residential units and local government office space for Reading Borough Council. Traffic impact was just one area the study dealt with which also included accessibility issues and parking provision.
Safety Audit for Clapham Junction Development
Assessment of new illuminated gateway feature in the London Borough of Wandsworth. It was necessary to check that the sign would not interfere with drivers sight of pedestrian signals which could cause a road safety problem.
Masterplan for the Isle of Sheppey, Kent - SEEDA
Design and assessment of highway infrastructure / parking requirements for a major development of residential, commercial, leisure and industrial land uses on the Isle of Sheppey on behalf of Southeast England Development Authority. Study includes traffic generation, assignment and distribution modelling for a range of future year development scenarios.
JC Decaux Advertising - Planning Appeal
JC Decaux was refused planning permission for a prestigious Norman Foster designed advertising tower near Edgware Road station. TfL turned down the scheme on highway safety for drivers on the Westway and local traffic. By examination of the road layout, driver behaviour and detailed analysis of accident rates we were able to successfully demonstrate to the planning inspector that there would be no road safety issue. As a result of our expert witness work the appeal was allowed.
